Mong Kok female passers-by abandoned footbridge map to cross 10 traffic lanes, taxi hit and killed driver arrested

The police and firefighters rushed to the scene, and the firefighters parked the fire truck across the traffic lane to prevent regeneration accidents.

Three people were injured in the accident and were sent to Guanghua Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Among them, the woman who was hit fell into a coma and died at 6:46 in the evening; the driver and passengers in the car were awake.

At the scene, the front of the taxi involved was damaged and a shoe was left on the road.


According to on-site information, the female passer-by did not use a pedestrian bridge near the incident location, but walked out of the road from Tak Cheong Street and attempted to cross 10 traffic lanes to the seaside direction. When she reached the 5th lane, The taxi fell off the bridge and approached, but was unable to stop, and suddenly hit the woman, and the taxi stopped about 20 meters before continuing to charge.


Police said the deceased's surname was Liang (67).

The incident happened at 6:01 p.m., a taxi driven by a man surnamed Chen (61) was heading towards Hung Hom along Ferry Street.

When driving near Tak Cheong Street, she hit Mrs. Liang. She was seriously injured in multiple parts of her body and was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in a coma. She was confirmed dead at 6:46 in the evening.

The taxi driver surnamed Chen and a 33-year-old female passenger in the car were injured and were sent to Guanghua Hospital for treatment. Chen was arrested on suspicion of "dangerous driving causing death of another" and is being detained.

The case was handed over to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic Kowloon West for follow-up. Police appeal to anyone who witnessed the accident or has information to contact the investigators at 3661 9000 or 3661 9023.

The Transport Department said at 6:30 pm that due to a traffic accident, some traffic lanes at Ferry Street (towards the Gascoigne Road flyover) near the Hilton Garden Inn Mong Kok have been closed.

Motorists are only allowed to use the remaining lanes.

There is currently heavy traffic on the site.
