Speaking at the opening panel of the Eilat Bar Association conference, Hayut said that criticism is legitimate, as long as it is conveyed in a stately and respectful manner.
"One can talk about court errors and the need to file an appeal or a request for further hearing. One can talk about the legal situation on one issue or another requiring change or amendment in legislation, but unfortunately, public discourse today and the various proposals that sound new to mornings are deteriorating to places we did not know. And I allow myself to say that these are very dangerous places. "
The president also said that "the same discourse has recently matured into riots in the judiciary and its judges, and blatant calls to harm them and weaken them by such and other creative means. Hayut's remarks come two weeks after a video was published by MK Yitzhak Pindros (Torah Judaism) in which he was seen saying that "my dream is to go to court with D-9."
