Schlehdorf: Village shop facing an uncertain future

The village shop is important for the local supply in Schlehdorf.

In the citizens' meeting, Mayor Stefan Jocher reported that the tenant had resigned.

– The range of topics, on which the mayor of Schlehdorf, Stefan Jocher, gave an account at the citizens’ meeting on Friday evening – from B for building area to D for village shop to T for tourism – in a hurry.

The meeting ended in less than an hour.

It was by no means the case that the mayor had nothing interesting to report – on the contrary.

The first major topic - the situation in the municipal "children's home" - was certainly of public interest.

As Jocher announced, the number of children cared for there is increasing “significantly”.

The facility is currently being attended by 57 children.

Because of the sharp increase in the number of births, it is now "no longer possible to take in children from neighboring communities with us".

Despite the recently opened crèche extension, the children's home is already "spatially reaching its limits".

The fact that an initiative now wants to open a forest kindergarten is therefore very welcome, said Jocher.

In the meantime, the district youth welfare office has given the go-ahead for the operating permit.

"If everything goes according to plan, the forest kindergarten can start operating in September," says Jocher.

This relieves the municipal kindergarten "and a structural extension can be postponed for the time being".

280 requests for a place in the Schlehdorf retirement home

The number of children attending school is also increasing in elementary school, and more and more use is being made of the lunchtime care offered.

As far as the local retirement home is concerned, the new building for which was only inaugurated in summer 2019, the house with its 54 places is currently “fully occupied”.

Of these 54 residents, eight would come from Schlehdorf and Großweil.

The mayor described it as "terrifying" that since the opening, a total of around 280 requests for a place in the home "could not be served due to a lack of capacity", since the supply situation with care places in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is "very tense".

As far as the documentation of the extensive excavations, which took place around five years before the new building was built, is concerned, this is still not finished.

A final report is still not available to the special purpose association of the retirement home – consisting of the municipalities of Schlehdorf and Großweil.

This has now been confirmed for the end of May, says Jocher.

What should happen to the excavated objects would be decided by the special purpose councils – i.e. local councils from the two municipalities – after the final documentation had been submitted.

As far as the planned whiskey adventure world is concerned, which is to be built in the commercial area, the client wants to submit the building application for it this year.

"Construction would then start next year," says Jocher.

On the other hand, the planned construction area “Unterau West” is not to be realised.

Because of the "extremely increased building land prices", according to Jocher, it is to be feared that the actual target group for this area - namely young, local families - cannot be reached.

That is why the plans for the around 35 building sites have been “put on hold” for the time being.

Likewise the construction of a multi-purpose hall.

This project at the school would have to wait a few more years due to the financial situation of the municipality.

In view of the large number of projects that the small municipality has implemented in recent years - for example the construction of a new crèche or the renovation of the school - he is confident that the hall can also be realised.

The broadband expansion in the village, on the other hand, should already be getting going again.

A decision will probably already be made in the next municipal council meeting as to whether the municipality will support companies that want to lay fiber optics into the houses free of charge.

After a brief look at the gratifying tourism balance - the place has a "high level" for its size in terms of overnight stays, according to Jocher - he went into Schlehdorf's current problem child: the municipal village shop.

Its future is currently causing problems because the current tenant terminated the lease after almost four years.

There are currently two interested parties - from Kochel and from Schlehdorf - who are currently examining the profitability of the shop.

Outcome uncertain.

But: "The family from Kochel is very interested," said Jocher optimistically.

The community only wants to think about a cooperative model for running the village shop if you can't find a tenant.

Because: "Without a shop, it would be tough here."
