Schliersee – The Markus Wasmeier open-air museum keeps growing.

That's the plan.

However, the municipal council is critical of the new idea of spending the night there.

At the most recent meeting of the Schliersee municipal council in the community hall in the local history museum, the change in the development plan for the Markus Wasmeier open-air museum was on the agenda.

Planner Johannes Wegmann presented the project to the committee.

However, the local councils did not want to make a decision immediately.

It is planned to update the "Markus Wasmeier Open-Air Museum" development plan.

It is essentially about three points: the parking lot regulations, new construction windows for a new courtyard and a warehouse as well as overnight accommodation.

Court planned from the 17th century

"One is the reorganization of the traffic junction at the level crossing," reported planner Johannes Wegmann to the Schliersee municipal councils.

Furthermore, the construction areas within the museum are to be enlarged and the various biotopes are to be secured.

A new mill is to be built on the lake and a farm from the 17th century is to be built at the foot of the slope beyond the winter room.

However, Wegmann still speaks of dreams of the future: "The courtyard is in a very bad condition and the dialogue is only just beginning." But if the courtyard could be transferred, it would be a sensation in terms of building culture.

The project is accompanied by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and district master builder Christian Boiger.

Employee parking required

As a further point, Wegmann mentioned the storage areas and employee parking spaces on Dr.-Brodfuhrer-Weg.

"At peak times, the museum has 90 employees, who of course also need parking," he said.

The aim should also be to reduce the number of containers in the storage area or to house them accordingly.

In addition, the basic possibility for a subordinate overnight accommodation with constantly changing occupancy should be entered.

However, according to Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer, the municipal councils always have the opportunity to have a say in the respective building permit.

"I can't imagine staying overnight in a museum building," Gerhard Waas (Greens) opened the emotional debate.

Criticism of projects in the museum

Leonhard Markhauser (CSU) the application is too vague.

"It would have to be tightened up so that we can contribute more," he said.

For Max Leitner (Die Schlierseer), the open-air museum should remain a museum.

He spoke out clearly against overnight accommodation.

Because Franz Schnitzenbaumer has seen how the museum has developed over the past 15 years, he does not share the fear of overnight accommodation.

Also there is a lot going on there.

"It's a busy museum," he said.

According to the mayor, the company is a figurehead for Schliersee.

Markus Wasmeier is to report to the municipal council

Sibylle Strack-Zimmermann (Greens) could not understand the resistance in the committee at all, since everything in the Markus Wasmeier Open-Air Museum is done with restraint and taste.

"We should support him a lot more than throw a beating between his legs," she said.

Florian Reinthaler (CSU) finally resolved the situation by requesting that the decision be postponed to the next meeting.

At best, Markus Wasmeier should be there in person and present exactly what he intends to do.

The Schliersee municipal councils agreed with three dissenting votes.
