Starbucks is definitely leaving Russia.

The coffee company stopped operations and stopped shipping its products to Russia in March.

Now, "it has made the decision to exit and no longer have a brand presence in the marketplace," Starbucks said in a brief statement Monday.

Employees in the country, numbering around 2,000, will receive their salaries for another six months.

Starbucks will also help them find new jobs outside the company.

Starbucks opened its first branch in Russia in 2007. As of March, it had 130 locations, all owned and operated by a partner.

The move follows a similar move by McDonald's.

Last week, the burger chain said it was selling its Russian business after operating for more than 30 years in the region.

McDonald's said that "the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, and the precipitous and unpredictable operating environment, have led McDonald's to conclude that continued ownership of the business in Russia is no longer sustainable, nor is it consistent with McDonald's values." ".

McDonald's later announced that it has reached an agreement to sell the business to an existing franchisee, which will open the restaurants under a new brand.

Both Starbucks and McDonald's decided to pause operations around the same time in March.

At the time, then-Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson said "we condemn Russia's horrific attacks in Ukraine and our hearts go out to everyone affected."

CNN's Jordan Valinsky contributed to this report.
