Swimming accident in Babenhausen: 22-year-old drowns in the lake – rescue workers from several municipalities on duty

In a swimming accident in Unterallgäu, a 22-year-old drowned from previously unexplained circumstances - the police are investigating.
Babenhausen – A 22-year-old died in a tragic swimming accident in Babenhausen (Unterallgäu district) on Sunday afternoon.
While swimming in the lake, the man got into trouble and ended up under water.
Police have launched an investigation into the young man's cause of death.
According to the first findings, the officials assume a natural cause of death, as the press office announced.
Swimming accident in Babenhausen: acquaintances led directly to a search operation
After the 22-year-old went under, both the swimmer's acquaintances and other bathers immediately started the search - unfortunately without any success.
In the course of further search measures, the water rescue rescued the swimmer.
Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
Various groups of emergency services from Bavaria were involved in the search operation, including the Memmingen water rescue service, Babenhausen, Illertissen, Krumbach, and the German Life Saving Society Memmingen with over 30 people.
The fire brigade was also on site with 30 emergency services.

The Babenhausen fire brigade was also on site with 30 emergency services, the rescue service was involved with more than ten people including a rescue helicopter.

Any help came too late for the 22-year-old.
Parts of the bathing lake had to be closed to the public as part of the measures.
The first investigations were carried out by the Memmingen Police Inspectorate and its permanent criminal service in Memmingen.
Two men were seriously injured in an accident in the district of Tirschenreuth
– the fall apparently occurred after an overtaking maneuver.
