The areas planted with irrigated summer crops and vegetables in As-Suwayda Governorate, since the beginning of the current season, have reached 8,370 dunums, with an implementation rate of 112 percent of its 7,480-donum plan.
The Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Engineer Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that there is a demand for irrigated crops and summer vegetables, especially for tomatoes, where the cultivated areas have so far reached 4200 dunums and red watermelon to 2120 dunums.
Hamed indicated that the summer crops and vegetables during the current season include 12 agricultural types: tomatoes, red and yellow watermelons, potatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, beans, sesame and tobacco. 2,750 dunams, with an implementation rate of 84 percent of the 3,260 dunums plan.
The production of As-Suwayda Governorate of summer crops and vegetables during the last season amounted to more than 94 thousand tons.
