The farmers of the Al-Ghab area in Hama confirmed that the decision to raise the purchase price of wheat from farmers, which was recently taken by the government during the grain conference, came in response to the farmers’ needs and constituted a strong incentive to expand the cultivation of this strategic crop and market it to grain centers.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, farmer Issa Al-Jardi from Salhab area in rural Hama said that the increase in the purchase price of wheat under the guidance of President Bashar al-Assad came in response to the aspirations and needs of farmers, in a way that parallels the frequent rises in production costs and requirements, expressing his hope that a similar increase would affect the purchase of various crops. The other strategy is beetroot, cotton, and others.
In turn, the farmer Asaad Hussein from the Al-Ghab region confirmed that raising the purchase price of wheat represents a strong motivation to maintain and expand the cultivation of the wheat crop and reduce the repercussions of rising production requirements such as wages for agriculture, fertilizers, watering and transportation, pointing out that the opening of new grain receiving centers would reduce the burdens on farmers in marketing Their crops are shipped from the fields to the warehouses of the centers in the easiest way and the least expenses.
The head of the Salhab Agricultural Association, Hassan Wanasy, affirmed that raising the price of wheat contributes to supporting its cultivation and production, which the region is famous for on a large scale, and enhances the cultivation of this strategic agricultural yield.
Director of the General Authority for the Management and Development of Al-Ghab Engineer Awfa Wassouf pointed out that the increase in the price of wheat formed a motive and an incentive for farmers to move forward in planting this crop, which Al-Ghab area is one of the most important areas for cultivation in Syria.
