Zaporizhia – The mayor deployed by the Russian occupying forces was seriously injured in a bomb attack in the small town of Enerhodar on Sunday (May 22, 2022).

"The self-proclaimed head of the 'People's Administration' of Enerhodar, Andriy Shevchik, was injured by an explosion at the entrance to the apartment building where his mother lives," the Ukrainian military administration of the Zaporizhia region announced on its Telegram channel late Sunday evening.

It was a targeted partisan attack against a collaborator, it said.

According to media reports, Shevchik is in intensive care.

His bodyguards were also injured in the attack.

Otherwise no one was harmed.

According to the Ukrainian military administration, the Russian occupying forces are now looking for two young men in a red Audi.

In addition, they would have strengthened the checkpoint.

According to its own statements, the Russian investigative committee on Monday (May 23, 2022) initiated criminal proceedings "for the crime of Ukrainian nationalists".

Europe's most powerful nuclear power plant is located in Enerhodar.

At the end of February, in the first days of the Ukraine war, the small town in the south of the Zaporizhia region was occupied by Russian troops.

As a result of the fighting, a fire briefly broke out on the site of the nuclear power plant.

But this could be deleted again.

The Russian side assured that the power plant works "normally and meets nuclear, radioactive and ecological standards".

Shevchik himself assured this: "Everything is fine here".

The regional capital of Zaporizhia itself is still under the control of Ukraine.
