Particularly brutal thunderstorms broke out, some of which caused great material damage.

recorded nearly 6,000 lightning strikes in the space of just three hours.
Vigilance was lifted Monday morning, while the municipalities report the ravages of the storm.

Residents of the affected regions also suffered a hailstorm, impressive in the size of the hailstones, equivalent to that of a tennis ball.

The prefecture detailed in a press release the action of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service, which
“dealt with 250 interventions, in 15 municipalities, mobilizing a total of 130 firefighters
”.
The “
majority
” of these interventions “
concern operations relating to roofs damaged by hail and water infiltration
”, informs the prefecture.
A total of 1,200 calls for help were made.
Degraded dwellings
It was in the communes of Châteauroux, Poinçonnet, Blanc, and Neuillay-les-Bois that the storms hit the hardest.
According to Enedis, the 320 homes that suffered a power cut should be resupplied during the day.
In Châteauroux (Indre), Mayor Gil Avérous reports that nearly 250 houses and around 1,000 cars were affected by hail.
“A
t least four out of five vehicles were affected, with the windows shattered.
I saw a dealer, with tears in my eyes.
All the cars in his parking lot were hammered
,” he told AFP.
The municipality had previously announced on its Twitter account the opening of the Valère-Fourneau gymnasium to welcome “
anyone who is the victim of bad weather at their home and who would not be able to spend the night there
”

Mayor Gil Avérous indicated in particular that a family of six had come "
early at night to take refuge
", their house being "
particularly degraded
".

In the Grands Champs district of Châteauroux, La Fayette college announced that it had closed its doors to students and staff on Monday, in order to estimate the damage but also the possible dangers.

, nearly 75% of the houses in this neighborhood would be damaged by the storm.
On the roads, many trees were uprooted and obstruct the passage, while firefighters took turns all night to help residents affected by hail or lightning.
