The National Security Department of the police arrested five trustees of the "612 Humanitarian Support Fund" earlier, saying that during the criminal investigation, some lawyers and barristers were found to have committed professional misconduct when providing legal services.

The Hong Kong Bar Association confirmed that it has received a complaint from the National Security Department, and the Executive Committee will conduct an investigation. It will not comment on the details or progress of the case until the investigation is completed.

When replying to media enquiries, Bar Association Chairman Du Gankun said that the results of the investigation will be disclosed to the public in due course.

The Law Society confirmed yesterday (23rd) that it has received a complaint from the National Security Department for the first time and has launched an investigation. The Council will set up a 3-member independent task force and report it to the Convenor of the Lawyers Disciplinary Tribunal when appropriate to start a disciplinary hearing. After the tribunal completes the inquiry and investigation, the most serious case may be to remove the lawyer from the register, etc.

However, the Law Society refused to disclose details such as the number of accused lawyers and the allegations, citing the confidentiality of the investigation.
