Nine people were killed in rare violent storms that swept through parts of the provinces of Quebec and Ontario in Canada, and also caused power outages in a large number of homes.
The Canadian cities of Uxbridge and Clarence Rockland declared a state of emergency due to the damage they sustained, while 196,000 homes in the province of Ontario were still without electricity.
The Ontario Meteorological Service reported winds of up to 132 km per hour in Kitchener-Waterloo.
