Penzberg – The Penzberg police do not have such an operation every day: the officers caught a stray parrot on the Berghalde.

On Sunday (May 22), the Penzberg police station received a concerned call around 11:45 a.m.

A citizen had noticed a parrot on the hill of the leisure area.

The gray parrot – whose value the police estimate at around 1,000 euros – was lured by the summoned police officers “using a conventional organic muesli mixture”, reports inspection manager Matthias Krümpel.

Information requested

The Penzberg police would be happy to receive any relevant information about the owner of the parrot on 08856/92570.

Pinched fingers

"The behavior of the highly intelligent parrot, while cooperative, was poorly communicative," Penzberg's police chief continued.

Because when the officer grabbed the bird, the parrot angrily pinched the officer's finger.

Scratches remained on the hand, but fortunately they were only minor.

"Physically, however, the bird, weighing around 400 grams and 33 centimeters tall, couldn't do anything against it," says Krümpel.

At the end of the mission, the animal-friendly colleague was visibly satisfied with the successful animal rescue.

Animal shelter takes care of return

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen animal shelter is now taking care of the return of the feathered escapee.

So far, the owner of the parrot with the conspicuous bright red tail coloration could not be found, as Krümpel told the Rundschau.

Therefore, information is requested (see box).
