Landsberg/Denklangen – “The trade remains resilient.

We keep the prosperity in the region”.

The well-known district master craftsman Markus Wasserle (Kaufering), when the annual reception of the Landsberg district craftsmen's association took place on Monday evening in the Denklingen Citizens' and Clubs' Center.

The keynote speaker was State Secretary Roland Weigert from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

He called out to the almost 200 women and men in the hall: "The challenges are enormous - just like the opportunities".

By challenges he meant the four keywords automation, marketing, network and digitization.

3D printing will revolutionize many things.

Top craftsmanship will gain in importance.

There had already been a major transformation in Bavaria, the State Secretary for Economic Affairs reminded of the change from an agricultural state to an industrial Free State, which had taken place in the 1960s under the then Prime Minister Alfons Goppel.

Just as the feat of strength was mastered back then, it can now also be mastered in the 1920s.

change of epoch

Craftsmen, like many other employers and employees, should be aware of one thing, Weigert continued: "We are in a time of changing epochs".

The keynote speaker named environmental pollution, safety risks, threats to health (such as the coronavirus) and the shortage of food as challenges.

If the food supply in North Africa does not work as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine, this will lead to migration to Germany and to failures in the supply chains.

The free voter politician was critical of populist demands for more nationalism and protectionism in his speech to the district craftsmen's association.

Free trade is a “prosperity driver”.

All craftsmen would also benefit from this.

The Landsberg district master craftsman Wasserle rated the relief for companies and citizens in the current high energy prices decided by the federal government as a “good first step”.

Another goal must be for the state to promote tax relief.

And: The skilled trades must be committed to looking for young people.

The training fair, which will be held this year on September 29th and 30th in Kaufering under the sponsorship of the district craftsmen's association, is a good forum for this.

Wasserle literally: “The adjustment screws are diverse.

I would like to call for people to continue working on them.” A major task is above all climate protection in the construction industry, said the district master craftsman, who after the speech together with his deputy Wolfgang Zeit handed out the golden master craftsman’s certificate seven times at the annual reception in BVZ Denklingen, as well as special company anniversaries how recognized the top performance of some trainees and also honored a number of long-term employees (further report follows).

skills shortage

In her greeting, the Mayor of Landsberg, Doris Baumgartl, addressed the full order books of most craft businesses in the Landsberg district.

However, the large shortage of skilled workers is a burden.

However, there are now numerous refugees who are already qualified.

Some of the refugees are now also “essential workers” for their employers.

In the refugees from Ukraine, the mayor saw an opportunity to counteract the need for skilled workers.
