Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, affirmed that the Palestinian cause exposed the Western countries and America and revealed their double standards and their true face towards the suffering of the Palestinian people, explaining that those who mourn over Ukraine today forget that they are the ones who destroyed Iraq and tried to destroy Syria.
Archbishop Hanna made it clear during an interview on the Newsmaker program broadcast by Russia Today this evening that the West's ignoring the reality of what is happening in occupied Palestine and its conspiracy against the Palestinian people indicates that the standards it follows are immoral and that the human and moral values and human rights they sing about do not exist on the ground.
Archbishop Hanna pointed to the major Israeli escalation affecting Palestinian religious sanctities, the latest of which was the settlers' assault on Palestinian worshipers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa and their provocative tours there, stressing that the goal of the racist occupation policies is to marginalize and weaken the Palestinian Islamic Christian presence in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Archbishop Hanna stressed that the issue of Jerusalem is an issue that has a humanitarian and global dimension, explaining that achieving justice in Palestine would be with the end of the occupation and that the Palestinian people would enjoy the freedom they deserve and for which they struggled.
Archbishop Hanna indicated that the conflict in occupied Palestine is not a religious conflict as the Israeli occupation tries to promote. The existing conflict is between the Palestinians, the real owners of the land, and strangers who have no right represented by the occupation, which, through its violations and the practices of its settlers, tries to give a religious character to this conflict.
