In Bavaria, two other people were reported to have been infected with the monkeypox virus.

You recently returned from a trip abroad.

Munich / Ansbach – After the first case of monkeypox infection was officially detected on Friday, there have now been other cases in Germany.

So while the infections are piling up and Bavaria’s Health Minister Klaus Holetschek already wants to order a vaccine, the credo remains: keep calm, panic is not appropriate – a new corona is not to be expected, according to the general mood among the experts.

There have now been two more confirmed cases of monkeypox infection in Bavaria.

Monkeypox in Bavaria: Two more cases confirmed

In order to curb the spread of the monkeypox virus, Health Minister Karl Lauterbach recommends three weeks of isolation.

However, the new monkeypox patients confirmed in Bavaria on Tuesday, May 24th, are not contact persons of the cases previously reported in Bavaria.

The infected people each returned independently from a trip abroad to the Free State, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening in Munich.

One patient is therefore in a clinic in Schwabing, the other patient was reported from the Ansbach district.

Both are in isolation.

Monkeypox infection: patients with typical symptoms

According to the information, the patients show the symptoms typical of a monkeypox infection, including skin changes.

So far, however, there has not been a severe course.

"The new cases show that we have to remain vigilant," said Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetscheck (CSU).

The general risk of infection for the population is still considered low.

More than 100 cases have now been identified worldwide.

In Germany, too, there are already reports from several federal states that there have also been infections with the monkeypox virus there.

According to the authorities, the virus usually causes mild symptoms, including headaches, fever, skin rashes and muscle pain.

However, severe courses are possible.
