A clinical trial conducted by the Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciences revealed that a Chinese inhalable vaccine proved to be effective and safe for adults as a booster dose against the Corona virus.
And the Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted the study published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine as saying that scientists from the academy, led by researcher Chen Wei, have developed an anti-coronavirus aerosol vaccine based on (type 5 adenovirus vectors), which is given by inhalation through the mouth.
The team, in cooperation with researchers from the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, conducted a randomized, open-ended, controlled trial to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine as a booster dose in 420 adults who were vaccinated with either low or high doses of the inhaled vaccine.
The results showed that the group that was given the reduced dose was characterized by a concentration of neutralizing antibodies that reached 744.4, while its concentration in the high dose group was 714.1 after 14 days of receiving the booster dose.
Neutralizing antibodies caused by the vaccine can bind to the coronavirus and prevent it from infecting cells.
