Homs- Sana
Passion for knowledge and yearning for culture brought together the Forum of Friends of Writers and Ladies of Nour “EMISA” in the writer’s hall Sami Al-Droubi at the Cultural Center in Homs during a seminar presented by the translator Abdullah Fadel entitled “The History of Feminism”.
Fadel reviewed themes that dealt with the history and march of feminism in the world from the beginning of the formation of feminist thought at the beginning of the nineteenth century, when women's issues began to appear clearly with the illumination of some of the sporadic and early writings on women that appeared before the beginning of the nineteenth century.
He spoke about the views of some thinkers and philosophers, whether they were pro- or anti-women.
Rola Hassan, director of the Book Friends Forum, said in a statement to SANA reporter that this symposium falls within the “Read with Us” initiative launched by the Book Friends Forum in cooperation with the women of Nour “Emisa” and under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture.
Hassan explained that her goal is to clarify the concept of feminism and to highlight all the experiences that women have gone through to consolidate their role, obtain their rights and empower them to be able to build their society.
It is also mentioned that in the initiative, which extends for six months, books and novels of interest to women will be discussed, which will contribute to broadening the horizon of knowledge, which in turn contributes to enhancing women's self-confidence.
