Disappeared for a month in Essonne, Michel, 24, was found hanged in the forest

It took more than a month to find his trace.

According to a source familiar with the matter, confirmed by the Essonne gendarmerie, the lifeless body of Michel Courjou, 24, was finally found on Thursday May 19 in the Villeconin forest, south of Essonne.

“The body of a man who died by hanging has been found, his personal belongings suggest that it is Michel Courjou”, indicates the prosecution of Évry-Courcouronnes on Tuesday.

DNA and toxicological expertise as well as an autopsy will be carried out in the coming days.

“They will be used to determine if it is indeed a suicide or if there was the intervention of a third party”, specifies a source close to the investigation.

Michel, who had given no sign of life since the morning of April 8, had officially been reported missing on the 11th. After a week of concern, an appeal for witnesses had been launched by the gendarmerie of the Try to find him.

Significant financial difficulties

The young man had abandoned his car near the forest of Villeconin, where he had grown up with a foster family.

Many means of research (divers, beaten with dogs, drones, helicopter) had then been engaged by the gendarmes of Saint-Chéron, assisted by the firefighters of Essonne.

After training and employment as a landscaper, Michel had decided to change paths and become an actor, according to his relatives.

He was taking lessons at a renowned theater school in Paris and living with a roommate in Étampes.

According to a source close to the investigation, the young man, who did not work in parallel with his studies, would have had significant financial difficulties since the beginning of the year.
