According to the motto "The way is the goal", thanks to the 9-euro ticket, you have the opportunity to travel on the most beautiful train routes in Germany at a very reasonable price.
Do you love catching a glimpse of the beautiful landscapes around you from the train?
With the 9-euro ticket, this is particularly cheap in the summer months of June, July and August.
Since May 23, the ticket has been available throughout Germany from DB ticket machines, in the travel centers at train stations, from DB agencies and online at
bahn.de
and the “DB Navigator” app.
Important to know
: It may only be used for local transport – long-distance trains such as the ICE are taboo.
But the regional trains also have a lot to offer: we will show you which routes are particularly beautiful.
Höllentalbahn - the steepest railway in Germany
The Höllentalbahn in the Black Forest is truly an experience: Due to its
incline of 400 meters in altitude over a distance of 12 kilometers
, it is considered the steepest railway in Germany.
The route leads from Freiburg to Villingen and passes the towns of Kirchzarten and Himmelreich as well as the Hirschsprung gorge - a gorge that owes its name to a legend according to which a stag escaped from a hunter by daringly jumping over the chasm.
From Titisee you have the option of changing to the 3-Seen-Bahn and getting to Schluchsee/Seebrug.

With the Moselle wine railway between vineyards and river landscape
The spectacular river landscape on the Moselle can easily be explored by train.
On the 90-minute route between Koblenz and Trier you can see the steep vineyards and tranquil wine villages.
If you get off at Bullay, you also have the opportunity to take the Moselle Wine Railway to Traben-Trarbach.
The train only travels 13 kilometers, but has a lot to offer: It runs on the Moselle route over the Alf-Bullay double-decker bridge to the Prinzenkopf tunnel and at 459 meters underpasses the 237.5-meter-high Prinzenkopf mountain in the Cochem-Zell district.
The route then leads over the
longest hillside viaduct in Germany
.

Numerous opportunities to explore - with the Elstertalbahn
With the Elstertalbahn you can explore the beautiful Elstertal between Saxony and Thuringia.
It runs from Gera in Thuringia to Cheb/Eger in the Czech Republic.
In the Saxon Vogtland you can take a look at 30 different bridges, including the 225-year-old wooden bridge in Wunschdorf.
Another highlight is the
multi-storey Elstertal Bridge
, which is the second largest brick bridge in the world.
The 140-kilometer route offers countless opportunities for stopovers: for example the Upper Castle of Greiz or the 1,000-year-old St. Vitus Church in Wunschdorf.
