The President of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin announced that the hearings of the Special Tribunal for the trial of Nazi extremists from the Ukrainian Azov Battalion will take place in several stages, the first of which will be in the city of Mariupol.
"We should not delay in trying the Nazis, and we must hold a number of intermediate trial sessions before the main court, as happened after the Great Patriotic War and the victory over Nazism," TASS news agency quoted Pushilin as saying in a statement today, revealing that a number of countries agreed in principle to participate in the International Tribunal. .
Pushilin pointed out that the court's statute is now being developed by the relevant departments, including the Russian ones.
Earlier, Pushilin announced that the Ukrainian Nazis should be tried, and did not rule out that this trial would be international.
Last Friday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu revealed that about 2,500 Nazi extremists besieged at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol had surrendered.
