Fan Issues: Auto Tunnel delayed by months

A car tunnel and an above-ground tram line are being built in the Kriegsstrasse.

The opening of the Karlsruhe car tunnel of the combination solution has been delayed by months.

The reason is a serious technical defect in a fan during a test run.

This was confirmed by Karlsruhe Mayor Frank Mentrup (SPD) on Tuesday.

The SWR and the "Badische Latest News" had previously reported on it.

Karlsruhe - The car tunnel through the Karlsruher Kriegsstraße is part of the local transport project combined solution.

Since December, part of the tram traffic has been routed through a tunnel under the pedestrian zone.

Another part runs on the new route Kriegsstraße to the south.

This former ten-lane car lane has been converted into a boulevard.

Car traffic should be rolling in the tunnel as early as spring.
