The branch of the Syrian Grain Foundation in Deir Ezzor has completed all preparations to receive wheat from farmers for the current season.
The director of the Foundation’s branch, Eng. Adib Rakad, told SANA reporter that two permanent centers have been equipped to receive wheat from farmers, namely the Al-Furat Center in the city of Deir ez-Zor designated to receive wheat from farmers and agricultural associations in the western countryside of the governorate, and Al-Mayadin center designated to receive wheat in the eastern countryside of the governorate, in addition to 3 purchase centers And direct shipping in Al-Bukamal, Al-Tibni and Hatla, with the aim of facilitating the receipt of the crop from the farmers.
Rakkad indicated that the institution took all measures to receive the wheat from the farmers in terms of preparing the open yards to receive the mixed grains, calibrating the domes, preparing laboratories and secret rooms, and forming the competent committees, in addition to the measures of self-protection from networks, tanks and firefighting tractors, pointing out that the branch started selling bags to farmers to fill in their crops, provided that they are returned. Worth to the farmer with the invoice.
In turn, the Director of the Agricultural Bank in Deir Ezzor, Engineer Muhammad Al-Akal, indicated that the branch is ready to disburse the values of wheat to farmers within a period not exceeding 24 hours from the date of receipt of the purchase lists to the bank, at an amount of 1,700 pounds per kilogram, with a marketing bonus of 300 pounds for farmers who market their crop from safe areas and 400 pounds from unsafe areas.
Raising the purchase price of the wheat crop from farmers was satisfied and accepted, as it comes within the framework of supporting and encouraging the continuation of agricultural production, taking into account production costs and achieving a good profit margin for them. for the farmers of Deir ez-Zor,” adding that the new price encourages the farmer to increase the area of land planted with wheat.
The farmer Eid Al-Nasser from the town of Al-Shamitiya pointed out that the new prices confirm the government's keenness to improve the agricultural situation and support farmers who will make double efforts to cultivate every inch of their lands.
The head of the Farmers’ Union in Deir ez-Zor Khazan al-Sahw explained that the agricultural season for wheat for this year is promising, and the government has provided all facilities for farmers to market their crops and raise the purchase price. Their fatigue in light of the high costs of production requirements such as fuels, pesticides, fertilizers, transportation wages and labor.
The head of the Al-Bukamal Agricultural Association, Ahmed Al-Hassan, described the decision to raise the purchase price of wheat from farmers as a fair procedure, as it guarantees an acceptable profit margin on their fees and constitutes a greater incentive to continue the production process and will encourage them to market their production completely and directly to the centers of the Syrian Grain Corporation.
