Two weirs, one fire engine: The people of Unterbrunn had invited the neighbors from Stockdorf to a barbecue because the local weir had given their old LF16 to the district.

The new vehicle for Unterbrunn will only be delivered in two to three years.

The Unterbrunn fire brigade took stock and registered fewer operations than ever before.

In addition, it became clear at the annual meeting: The Stockdorfer vehicle is only an interim solution.

Unterbrunn – The corona pandemic has pushed the deployment figures of the Unterbrunn volunteer fire brigade to an all-time low.

This was reported by Commander Ferdinand Maenner at the annual general meeting at the weekend.

This decided to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the fire brigade association in the coming year.

A three-day festival weekend is planned in summer at the fire station and tent.

The date has not yet been set, but a festival committee is already at work.

"We're going into the planning now," says the first board member, Thomas Walser.

He can be satisfied with the development of the defense.

In particular, the youth work in the youth and children's sector is going well - the youth fire brigade has nine members and the children's fire brigade has 19 members.

This year, the first young people who started their fire service careers with the children's militia are accepted into the active force.

The good youth work depends above all on the people, Walser praises his youth worker Andrea Herr and Florian Möhwald and those responsible for the children's fire brigade, Rebecca Mocks and Alexandra Herr.

In addition, the Unterbrunner Wehr has 34 active, 42 passive and 16 sponsoring members.

The next event of the weir also has something to do with the youth - the soap box race on June 25th, in which the children's weir takes part.

According to Maenner's report, the active number has increased by two - a good sign.

The Unterbrunners recorded 15 operations in 2021: two fires, three fire alarm system alarms and ten technical assistance.

Among the latter were two accidents with trapped vehicle occupants, the first on New Year's Day, the second in early September.

Although there were fewer deployments than in previous years, the military still practiced regularly – 15 times, twice online due to the corona.

The most important project at the moment is the procurement of a new HLF 20 (rescue fire engine), which is being ordered these days.

However, the commander expects up to three years until delivery.

For a long time, the fire service used a TSF-W, which was both too small and dilapidated.

Help came from the neighborhood: The Stockdorf fire brigade, which received a new vehicle (an HLF) about a year ago, made their old LF16 available to the residents of Unterbrunnen as an interim solution.

The people of Unterbrunner had converted the vehicle for their purposes so that it matched the operational tactics and the material of the people of Unterbrunner, as board member Walser explains.

That was in the middle of last year.

As a thank you for the support, the people of Unterbrunn invited the people of Stockdorf to a barbecue last weekend.

Their annual meeting also featured honors and promotions.

Markus Herr was honored for 20 years of active service.

Michael Hamberger, Nico Krafft and Christian Kienast were promoted to chief firefighters, while Johannes Münch is now a candidate firefighter.

Markus Haas also received a certificate for 25 years of service, which, however, had been issued by the district.
