The brand “Haus der Hallertau” keeps growing.

That's why the first "Day of the Hallertau" will take place next Saturday.

Who would have thought that three years ago: A constantly growing brand emerged from a small initiative started by two incorrigible optimists and two handful of member companies - the

"Haus der Hallertau"

.

Out of affection for the Hallertau landscape and good, healthy food, the initiator

Johann Englmüller from Freising

developed the idea of creating a label for fair and regionally produced agricultural and handicraft products.

“Hallertau Day”: the region is still an insider tip

The marketing aspect then came into the project with advertising specialist Gunnar Kollin.

With the creation of a common brand logo and a website, the "Haus der Hallertau" brand was born.

The first flyer followed in 2019, presenting the participating companies and distributed to tourist information and tourist associations.

The Hallertau, as the largest contiguous hop-growing region in the world, is still an insider tip as a holiday and excursion region, despite its central location and the cultural landscape worth seeing.

In this landscape shaped by hop cultivation, numerous small and medium-sized producers of regional and sustainable agricultural or handicraft products as well as tourist and gastronomic service providers with very different ideas have recently established themselves.

“Hallertau Day”: Outstanding quality products and services

Today, more than 90 businesses in the areas of agriculture, handicrafts, dealers, hosts and experiences, gastronomy and art & culture come together under the roof of the Hallertau house.

The "Haus der Hallertau" stands for excellent quality products and services in this hilly region of Hallertau.

With the label of the same name, the initiative wants to network regional companies with each other and thus give the region a new meaning beyond the hops.

The Hallertau is diversity - also and especially with products on the market.

There is always something new to discover.

In the Hallertau, not only are meat from cattle, goats, game and poultry produced in a sustainable and species-appropriate manner, and not only classic vegetable products are produced.

You can also find surprises in the fields and in the gardens and stables of the Hallertau: in addition to regional vegetables, fruit and berries, there are hazelnut products, mushrooms and products such as apple cider or alpaca products.

Aronia, elderberry, currant and blackberry products or various balsamic vinegars, apple cider or dried fruit can also be found in the range of the Hallertau farms.

"Hallertau Day": Regional delicacies

What a variety of artisanal gems the Hallertau offers: micro-breweries, coffee roasters, small and fine manufacturers of spirits, secco, soap and chocolate, jewelry, leather goods and bags made of cowhide, ceramics, ice cream and flour made from regional grain.

More and more small and medium-sized shops rely on fair products such as organic food, organic cosmetics and fair trade clothing.

Producers or dealer cooperatives are also offering more and more products from regional production at weekly markets - without long transport routes and without packaging waste.

Of course, these criteria also apply to dealers with the “Haus der Hallertau” label.

As a special offer, these dealers also have fair products from the Hallertau region.

“Hallertau Day”: cultural workers are welcome

After an eventful day in the Hallertau, a bike tour or a hike through the rolling hills of the Hallertau, there is nothing nicer than a freshly tapped hop drink in a cozy beer garden.

The gastronomic establishments not only offer beers - selected culinary creations alongside traditional dishes are available in restaurants, beer gardens and inns.

And the member companies of the House of Hallertau naturally value the use of regional products.

But people don't just need food, drink, sleep and study.

Also discovery and amazement.

In order to reflect the diversity of the Hallertau to some extent, artists, musicians and cultural workers have also been invited to become members of the Hallertau House since 2021.

And already the first have followed this invitation.

A voyage of discovery through the workshops and studios of the artists and the stages and studios of the musicians in the Hallertau is well worth it to discover something beautiful, sonorous, mysterious and atmospheric.

“Hallertau Day”: Brochures and a photo book

In order to be able to present the diversity of the member companies in an appealing way, the creators of the "House of Hallertau" have not only created a clear, informative and constantly growing website - the carefully designed 44-page brochure "Houses of the Hallertau 2022" has now already appeared in the second updated edition, which, in addition to brief portraits of all member companies, also presents selected excursion tips in the Hallertau.

Most of the full-page photographs in this brochure come from Michael Mießlinger's photo book “The Colors of the Hallertau”.

Also new in the current edition is a description of the hop hiking trail, an initiative of the ILE Holledauer Tor.

This brochure is of course available from the member companies, but also from tourist information offices, town halls and selected restaurants and shops.

In order to push the idea of the Hallertau house even further and to be able to place it even more in the public eye, a suitable organizational form had to be created from the initiative at the beginning of the year, so that the initiators who founded the Hallertau house GbR.

"Day of the Hallertau": On Sunday in the upper house of the Lindenkeller

Next

Saturday, May 28,

together with the "Eishaus Freising" in the

upper house of the Lindenkeller in Freising

,

the first "Hallertau Day"

was organized, a market where some of the member companies of the Hallertau House presented their products and services present to the general public.

Hallertau Day, which will be opened at twelve o'clock by Mayor Eva Bönig (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), will present excerpts from the wide range of products and offers from the members of the "House of Hallertau" — from regional fruit and vegetables, organic juices, Honey and honey specialties, home-brewed regional beer, dairy products, coffee specialties from regional coffee roasters, ceramics, special spreads, home-made soaps and regional brandies and liqueurs.

And of course two llamas including llama products can also be admired.

And all of that directly from the Hallertau.
