Ethiopia's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was today elected Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) for a second five-year term.
Reuters reported that the vast majority of the 194 member states of the organization voted to continue Gebresus in the position of director general.
Ghebreyesus is the first African to hold the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization.
In turn, German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said in a tweet on Twitter: "The members of the World Health Organization have re-elected Ghebreyesus as Director-General of the organization for a new term, which he deserves."
