Greek government spokesman Yiannis Economou said that his country will not engage in an argument with the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in response to the latter's accusations against Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his final declaration with him.

Local media quoted Economou as saying: "Mitsotakis defends Greece's rights," stressing that "Greece's foreign policy depends on alliances, and ours is a policy of principles."

Erdogan had attacked Mitsotakis against the background of allegations that he was going to the United States to persuade US President Joe Biden to refuse to supply Turkey with F1 fighters.

Mitsotakis had recently called on the Turkish regime to stop violating Greek airspace with its combat aircraft, saying that "the provocations by Turkey are unacceptable."
