Hertha BSC has contradicted reports of President Werner Gegenbauer resigning.
As the Bundesliga soccer club announced on Tuesday, the club boss had not resigned from his post, contrary to media reports to the contrary.
Berlin – CEO Fredi Bobic said at a round of talks that he regretted the rumours.
After staying up in the relegation duel against Hamburger SV, he had not yet spoken to Gegenbauer, but wrote messages.
"He's our president right now," Bobic said.
In Berlin, a withdrawal from Gegenbauer before the general meeting on Sunday has long been expected.
He would thus forestall a possible deselection.
The 71-year-old has been leading the club since 2008 and has been heavily criticized in the past.
There was no statement from Gegenbauer himself on Tuesday either from Hertha.
The presidency meets on Wednesday.
Bobic finds the announced farewell to CFO Ingo Schiller on October 31 "a shame".
