Elections to the General Workers 'Union closed tonight (Tuesday), and towards midnight it will be decided who will head the strongest workers' union in the economy.

The two candidates for the position are the current chairman, Arnon Bar-David, and the former chairman, Ofer Eini.

A poll published this week in Walla!

And conducted by Direct Falls shows that Bar David receives 69% support compared to 31% for its rival.

It is estimated that the sweeping support of the committees for Arnon Bar-David is based on a broad coalition - and it is he who is expected to win the election.

On the other hand, Eini also distributed its own survey conducted by the Smith Institute, which shows that it leads with 35% support compared to Bar David with 26%.

The polling stations, located in the workplaces as well as in the residential neighborhoods, opened from the early morning hours and closed at 22:00.

The truth results are expected to be published around midnight.

This is the first time that elections have been held in Israel on a digital platform nationwide, from Eilat to Kiryat Shmona, with hundreds of thousands of voters.

In Israel, there are about 601,000 eligible voters for the Histadrut, and they had 2,031 computerized voting positions at their disposal.

Malam Tim managed the project at the computer level, while Reshef is responsible for manpower.

The importance of the Histadrut elections lies in the fact that it is the largest workers' organization in the country, which also unites the government workplaces, the "shalterlists" who can in one moment disable most of the essential services in the public service.

While Shevar David is more identified with the large committees, among them are the Airports Authority, the Electric Company, Haifa Port and Ashdod Port, Israel Railways and Clalit Health Services - my eyes are more on the workers themselves and less on the chairman of the strong committees.
