Recall that after weeks of debates between the coalition and the opposition, the "School Uniforms" law was approved by the Knesset plenum by a majority of 55 to 6 opponents from the joint list - who turned the vote into a no-confidence vote in the government.
As a result, the opposition was absent from the vote - even though it had previously decided to support the bill.
Members of the RAAM party, and MKs Edith Silman (right) and Jida Rinawi Zoabi (Meretz) - were absent from the vote of no confidence in the third reading in order not to vote against the government.
Just before the vote, and for fear of the coalition not having a majority to pass the law in its current form, Defense Minister Gantz proposed a compromise to the opposition, in which funding would be increased to 75% of tuition instead of 66% as it should have been.
