Gilching - The municipality of Gilching awards the Medal of Merit to citizens who have made a special contribution to the municipality.

The ceremonial presentation of the medal of merit recently took place in KultCafe Gilching.

The Medal of Merit is a special award.

The people proposed should have distinguished themselves in a voluntary capacity over many years, especially in the social field.

In March 2003, Dr.

Waiblinger his work in the Senior Advisory Board.

For 17 years he has campaigned for the interests of senior citizens, from secretary to deputy chairman.

A remarkable 226 protocols were created.

Waiblinger organized 87 hikes under the motto "comfortable hiking in the district" for the senior citizens' advisory board and was always a popular supervisor on the trips.

He always captivated walkers with his information about history and nature.

The honoree contributed to the entertainment of the Gilchinger seniors with numerous slide presentations and travel reports.

He also regularly took part in the culture days, the Festa Italiana, and was a co-founder of the senior citizens' cinema.

Participation in the quiz championships with the seniors' advisory board was also part of Waiblinger's range of tasks.

In 2004 he took part in the Gilchingen anniversary celebrations with the Seniors' Advisory Board as the "Council of Wise Men".

He was also very appreciated by his colleagues because of his attentive and reserved manner. He always got to the point in an understandable way and looked for practical solutions.

In addition, Dr.

Waiblinger is very devoted to Bavarian cultural assets.

What sets him apart is his love of local history.

In his book he describes corridor crosses, wayside shrines and wayside shrines on Gilchinger corridor.

In painstaking work, he found the owners and wrote down the associated stories.
