The tragic attack in the Old City in November 2021 cut off the life of the late Eli Kay, a lone soldier who immigrated to Israel out of a sense of mission and love for the country, but his legacy is alive and kicking even today.

At the initiative of the Kay family and the World Zionist Organization's spiritual services, delegations set out this week for countries in Europe and the United States to tell the story of the late Eli Kay ahead of Jerusalem Day. To dream and fight for Jerusalem even 55 years after its liberation, so we dedicate to him the memory of Jerusalem Day trips in Europe and North America, "said Roi Abkasis, head of the Spiritual Services Division at the World Zionist Organization.

Until Jerusalem Day, which takes place this coming Sunday, commemorative and heritage classes will be held in dozens of centers around the Jewish world in memory of the late Eli Kay, who was murdered six months ago by a terrorist on his way to work at the Western Wall.

The commemoration will be carried out by two delegations, consisting of Israeli educators together with Jews from the Diaspora who built a lesson plan that combines the commemoration of the late Eli in the story of Jerusalem.

The delegations will hold a marathon of lectures in schools, universities and Jewish community institutions in Sweden, Austria, England (Liverpool and Manchester), France and several regions in the United States.

As part of the classes, a special video will be screened in memory of the late Eli Kay, and interviews with his family members, as well as a description of the course of his life until his murder on the steps of the Western Wall.

The late Eli Kay immigrated from South Africa about seven years ago, and was murdered at the age of 26 on his way to work at the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.

Eli immigrated to Israel alone to serve in the IDF, and served as a lone soldier in the paratroopers in the 202nd Battalion.

Eli was engaged to Jin, leaving behind two brothers and a sister who also immigrated to Israel and served in the IDF as lone soldiers.
