The last political year has been complex, whether you support the government or wish for its fall, we saw a lot of special things in the current Knesset, but yesterday in the Knesset we saw a particularly rare spectacle, 107 Knesset members agreed on a bill, it was not easy, there were many challenges along the way, no lesson A few hours but in the end compromised, 107 MKs managed to agree!
I do not remember a law with such support lately, if there has ever been such support at all.
As a company commander of reservists, I was happy to see that the Knesset supports the combatants, the little we can as a society is give back to the people who chose to risk their lives for us.
Unfortunately today it is no longer obvious, our fighters are on a not-so-simple front, they are busy countering terrorism on the one hand, on the other hand they are preparing for the next war hoping not to come, while almost every action is documented on camera, step out and you "star" on social media.
Not a simple challenge at all for a fighter in his twenties in Israel.
That is why this recognition of combat service is an important and desirable thing, gratitude, the most natural thing in the world.
But I think yesterday was an event that deserves to be addressed in a different way as well, 107 Knesset members agreed on something in Israel!
So non-trivial, in a difficult political period, with a lot of talk about factions in the nation, deserves to miraculously elevate the things that unite us.
Whether you support Bibi or strongly oppose him, support the government or pray that it will fall tomorrow, it is important to remember that there are issues that not only we agree on, but they also unite us.
So it is true that one party tried to attract more here and the other wanted a little different, but on really important issues most Israelis are able to rise above the small politics and agree on the main thing.
An example of this can be seen in any random reserve training, you will find there such a wide political variety, with disagreements in almost every possible issue, but in the end you know how to overcome the disagreements and deal mainly with the unifying.
Hopefully we will be able to remember to be more grateful to the people who chose to risk their lives for all of us and also to unite more around the things that really matter.
Were we wrong?
Fixed!
