Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said today that the ideal scenario for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Ukraine is to keep the conflict burning there because it needs it as a tool against Russia and as a field for getting rid of old weapons.
Patrushev said in a statement to the Russian newspaper Argomenti e Facty: "If Ukraine were independent ... and if it were not ruled by the current puppet regime obsessed with the idea of joining NATO and the European Union, it would have expelled all the evil spirits of Nazism from its lands long ago."
Patrushev pointed out that Russia is not racing against time in its special military operation to protect Donbass, pointing to the need to completely eliminate Nazism.
In response to a question about the concern of a number of people about the delay in the end of the Russian special military operation, Patrushev said: “We are not chasing specific deadlines… Nazism must be eliminated by 100 percent, otherwise it will raise its head in a few years in an even more uglier way.”
Patrushev considered that the expansion of NATO infrastructure in Finland and Sweden is a direct threat to Russia's security, stressing that Moscow will respond in an appropriate manner.
