Intentions were also raised to produce explosive devices to carry out a kidnapping attack on soldiers.
The activists even purchased a skimmer for the benefit of his arming and carrying out an attack using it, towards the light rail in Jerusalem.
According to the GSS investigation, these squads were led by Rashid Rashek, a prominent Hamas operative living in the Old City of Jerusalem, who in parallel with this activity, together with Mansour Tzafdi, a Hamas operative from Abu Tor, planned a shooting attack or suicide in Jerusalem.
In addition, the GSS investigation revealed that members of the cell planned to hide in Hebron or Jenin after the terrorist attacks they planned.
The GSS investigation also revealed that Rashid Reshak set up an array of activists in Jerusalem whose goal is to carry out riots in the city's eastern neighborhoods and on the Temple Mount during the last month of Ramadan, in order to destabilize the Temple Mount and Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the operatives transferred many fireworks as well as Hamas flags and ribbons to the city's eastern neighborhoods and the Temple Mount for use during riots during the month of Ramadan.
As mentioned, the GSS and the Israel Police arrested a number of suspects, Hamas operatives, residents of East Jerusalem and during the investigation, the skimmer that was intended to carry out the light rail attack, a camera designed to photograph the hostages, funds and Hamas organizational equipment were seized.
Serious indictments have now been filed against those involved by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office.
The General Security Service and the Israel Police will continue to act resolutely in order to bring to justice those involved in all terrorist activities in general and in the city of Jerusalem in particular.
