The press office of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy reported today that ship-borne helicopters conducted exercises to track down an enemy submarine and landed on the deck of a guard ship during naval maneuvers.
“In a naval field in the Baltic Sea, crews of Ka-27 helicopters were trained to land on the deck of the Yaroslav Mudry tactical guard ship to chase and track simulated enemy submarines, in addition to interoperability with a surface ship during Submarine warfare.
The statement pointed out that "the pilots performed more than 30 landings on the deck, and trained in take-off and landing day and night, and practiced helicopter flight skills with limited visibility, making landings on the deck only using the tools on board."
