The Minister of Education, Yifat Shasha Bitton, this evening (Tuesday) ordered the professionals in the Ministry of Education to immediately submit restraining orders to the National Labor Court against the teachers' organization.
If restraining orders are filed, the Labor Court should prevent them from enforcing the sanctions they are supposed to impose starting tomorrow.
As you may recall, earlier today the teachers' organization decided that no grades would be given or typed for students in the school systems and no certificates would be handed out at the end of the school year.
However, they clarified that the decision was not valid regarding the defensive scores so that the submission to matriculation would not be harmed.
In addition, instruction was given not to attend parties and ceremonies and not to attend any training of any kind.
It was also decided not to hold any activities after the end of the teacher's working day and not to participate in any training of any kind.
The teachers' union announced a labor dispute a few days ago, at the heart of the controversy is opposed to Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton's new matriculation program, according to which external matriculation exams in history, citizenship literature, the Bible will be abolished and students will submit work covering the four topics.
Minister Shasha-Bitton said: "The days when the education system was subject to the caprices of one person leading a culture of lying - are over.
"No one can stop the education system from advancing."
The national parent leadership came out against Ran Erez and a statement issued on its behalf read: "Ran Erez is turning the children into a punching bag against the reform. Measures that are disproportionate, wild bordering on child abuse regardless of the nature of the reform. The sanctions he announced "To get graduation certificates after two years of Corona. For us, this is an illegal Italian strike and we demand that the Ministry of Education issue a restraining order against the organization."
