Today, Slovenia announced the detection of the first case of monkeypox in the country.
Slovenian television quoted local sources as saying that the infection belonged to a traveler who returned from the Canary Islands in Spain, and that his condition did not require admission to hospital because he had a mild form of the viral disease.
Monkeypox is an infectious disease that usually has mild symptoms. It is endemic in parts of West and Central Africa and spreads through close contact, so it can be contained relatively easily through measures such as self-isolation and personal hygiene.
