Storm in Bavaria: storm devastates restaurant in Franconia – what follows is a wave of helpfulness

The bad storm devastated a restaurant in the Franconian town of Röthenbach on Friday (May 20).
But the solidarity is great.
Röthenbach – The violent storm on Friday (May 20) also passed over Röthenbach in the Nuremberg region.
The "Zum Holzwurm" restaurant, which Thorsten Kortum runs, was hit particularly hard.
There, the storm made sure that hardly a screen remained intact.
But despite the devastation and worries about lost sales, gratitude now prevails for the restaurant boss.
Around 6.30 p.m. the mood in Röthenbach changed suddenly.
Where previously a bright blue sky and sunshine dominated, the storm began to spread across Bavaria without warning.

inFranken.de , it started to rain lightly at first.
The first guests had already left the terrace by then.
And when he then wanted to close the umbrellas, "there was a real tornado," says the restaurant operator.
Storm destroys restaurant in Franconia - but the help is great
The extreme wind caused two umbrellas to be completely dismantled.
"From now on, without warning." One of the screens even tipped into the window of the warehouse, which was then knocked out together with the frame.

But the Kortums didn't have to wait long for help.
Not least because of an emotional post that the restaurant operator's wife shared on Facebook: "We need your help, please.
It broke all of our two large umbrellas on the patio today.
Who can please help us out with any kind of parasols and stands on loan?
We're really stuck without parasols and could practically forget our patio business."
Help comes from guests, the BRK and a wholesaler - "We fail the words"
So some regular guests and a wholesale company brought in replacement umbrellas.
"In addition, the BRK-Röthenbach brought us two large umbrellas on Saturday morning, which we can use until the end of the summer," says Thorsten Kortum gratefully.
He and his wife would have gotten even more.
"But at some point we had to say, 'We're safe, but thank you, thank you, thank you!'"
The Kortums express how grateful they are for this wave of helpfulness in another post on Facebook.
"You are all amazing," it says.
And further: “A thousand thanks for your willingness to help.
To be honest, we're at a loss for words."
