The joint Syrian-Russian government committee discussed in an official talks session held today in Moscow strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to confront the unjust Western economic sanctions imposed on the peoples of the two countries.

The two chairmen of the committee stressed on the Syrian side, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mansour Azzam, and on the Russian side, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, on strengthening joint cooperation relations and finding the best possible ways to confront the unjust Western economic sanctions imposed on the peoples of the two countries by taking enhanced economic and mechanical measures aimed at empowering the Syrian economy. To alleviate the difficulty of the stage the country is going through.

Azzam and Borissov indicated that cooperation and joint coordination with all friendly countries and forces will be enough to confront the sanctions and ensure the foundations of sustainable development for peoples who believe in their sovereignty and independence.

The meeting dealt with an assessment of the most important results that were reached in the context of the work of the joint committee, especially in terms of preparations made by the Planning and International Cooperation Commission in Syria and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation in preparation for the convening of the 13th session in Damascus soon, in addition to reviewing all the signed agreements. between ministries and relevant authorities.

The two heads of the committee expressed their keenness to provide the full support required for national companies operating in both countries and to enhance the work of the private sector through the Syrian-Russian Joint Business Council and to enable them to follow up on joint investment projects.

On the Syrian side, the meetings were attended by Minister of Finance Dr. Kinan Yaghi, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Khader, Dr. Mona Al-Saeed from the Presidency of the Republic, and Syria's Ambassador to Moscow Dr. Riad Haddad, in addition to senior officials concerned with the file of joint cooperation with the Russian side from the Presidency of the Russian government.

Yesterday evening, talks were held at the Russian Ministry of Finance between the Minister of Finance and the accompanying delegation and the Russian side, which included Deputy Finance Minister Timur Maksimov and a number of officials concerned with the bilateral cooperation file in the ministry.

The meeting dealt with evaluating the reality of cooperation in the financial and customs fields and the steps that can be taken to enhance opportunities for financial cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of automating customs and tax work, in addition to ways to provide joint exemptions from some fees and taxes in a way that enhances the feasibility of trade exchanges and facilitates procedures for the arrival of local products. In both countries for the other country's markets.
