The first African to lead the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ethiopian Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was reappointed on Tuesday May 24 for a second five-year term, announced the president of the World Health Assembly.

The betting was almost done before the vote by secret ballot at the World Assembly currently being held in Geneva: Doctor Tedros, 57, was the only candidate in the running.
