The municipality of Unterföhring is investing in safety and has set up rescue stations on the Isar Canal.
After a short time, the first was so damaged that it had to be dismantled again.
Unterföhring
– The municipality of Unterföhring has installed a total of ten rescue stations on the Isar Canal between the Leinthaler Bridge and the bridge on Münchner Strasse over the canal.
One station was so damaged by vandalism shortly after installation that it had to be dismantled.
It will be restored shortly.
There are five stations on each side of the canal, approximately 500 meters apart.
The municipality is thus following a request from the citizens' assembly and is increasing security in Unterföhring.
The implementation, which cost 5,000 euros, was preceded by intensive negotiations with the landowner, Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH.
The red boxes contain a lifebuoy with a throw line and a pole with a loop, which is familiar from the swimming pool, for example.
The community appeals: "In any case, please always call the emergency number 112."
At the beginning of August 2021, the municipality had already set up a pillar crane between the Isar Canal and the Bauhofbrücke, which the fire brigade can use to quickly lower a boat into the canal.
A water rescue on the canal is made much easier.
When used on the Isar canal, a mobile truck crane no longer has to be erected safely and securely in a hurry.
