In Hohenkammer, even the little ones know what it takes to have a good meal.

That's why the children have now published a cookbook.

Hohenkammer

– The thickest book in the municipality of Hohenkammer is the primary school cookbook.

120 children published a total of 140 recipes.

Two years of the Corona pandemic were challenging for society, but it was also an opportunity with ideas born out of necessity during the lockdowns.

One of these was a cookbook by the children of the Hohenkammer elementary school that broke all boundaries.

The response was so great that the parents' association even needed sponsors to finance the project.

Three banks helped so that after the sale of 350 books with 164 pages there are still a few euros left over which the parents' council can use to support the school.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In October last year, the deputy chair of the parents' council, Marina Brandstetter, had the idea of publishing a cookbook with the favorite recipes of children and teachers during the lockdown and thus making other families happy.

The two chairmen of the parents' council, Beate Lang and Marina Brandstetter, then went to class with the idea and were a little worried that there might not be enough response.

giant wave of excitement

With the wave of enthusiasm and the participation of almost all children, the feedback exceeded all expectations.

120 children attend the school and 140 recipes were summarized in the 164-page book.

The palette ranges from funny to exclusive.

The recipe "Red Rubber Fish" was a particular smile, because behind it are fried farfalle noodles with ketchup.

There are also sugar-free recipes

"We got really great recipes with an amazing range," said Rector Sigrid Baumgartner, who is very proud of the school family.

Appetizers, soups, main courses, desserts, Christmas baking and even sugar-free cuisine are grouped into different chapters.

350 books sold make the project a success.

At the price of ten euros, you couldn't even cover the expenses with the recently significantly increased printing prices.

Therefore, the parents' council was looking for sponsors.

Oliver Klingeberger from Freisinger Bank, Martina Maitland from Sparkasse Freising and Christian Czech from Volksbank Dachau visited the Hohenkammer primary school on various dates and had donation checks with them.

The parents' association has thus increased its cash register somewhat in order to support the school.

Only a few copies available

Remaining stocks of the cookbook can still be ordered from the grocery store in the town center or from the parents' association of the Hohenkammer primary school.
