The Director-General of the Red Crescent Society in Khuzestan province, southwest of Iran, announced that the death toll from the collapse of the Metropole building in the city of Abadan has risen to 10, and 35 wounded.
"Three new bodies were found under the rubble on the first floor of the Metrople building, which collapsed yesterday," Shabani was quoted by the Iranian news agency IRNA as saying, pointing out that two other bodies were found earlier and a number of wounded were rescued.
Shaabani indicated that efforts are continuing to remove the rubble, while search, rescue and relief operations continue.
A previous toll indicated that 5 people were killed and 27 others were injured when part of the 10-storey Metropel building that was under construction collapsed in the city of Ibadan.
