The FBI is investigating a plot to assassinate former President George W. Bush involving an Iraqi citizen in the United States whose recognition included driving to Bush's Dallas neighborhood, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
The investigation was revealed in a sealed application, filed on March 23, for a search warrant for the phone calls of a person identified in the documents as Shihab Ahmed Shihab, who entered the US in September 2020. Documents obtained by CNN do not show that Shihab has been charged with any crime, and CNN has been unable to contact him or identify an attorney.
