Hundreds of Palestinians participated today in two stands in Tulkarm and Al-Bireh in the West Bank in support of the prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons and to demand the handing over of the bodies of the martyrs it is holding.

Wafa news agency reported that the stand in front of the Red Cross office in Tulkarm was dedicated to supporting the two hunger strikers, Khalil Awawda, the striker, 83 days ago, and Raed Rayan, the striker, 47 days ago.

Ibrahim Al-Nimr, director of the Prisoners’ Club office in Tulkarm, said, “The situation of the two prisoners, Awawda and Rayan, is difficult and suffers from a decline in their health and cannot move, warning of the dangerous health conditions of sick prisoners due to the policy of medical neglect practiced by the occupation authorities against them, including the prisoner Khaled Al-Shawish, who moves in a wheelchair, and Nasser Abu Hamid, who suffers from a serious health condition with the spread of cancer in his body, and Mutasim Raddad and hundreds of others who are languishing in Ramle detention center in poor conditions.

Al-Nimr appealed to the international community, the Red Cross, and humanitarian and human rights institutions to move urgently to rescue the prisoners and deter the occupation from continuing its arbitrary practices against them, as they find only their empty intestines as a way to confront their jailers.

A similar stand was also organized in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the city of Al-Bireh, dedicated to supporting the families of the martyrs whose bodies are being held by the occupation authorities.

The head of the High Commission for the Follow-up of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, Amin Shoman, said, “The stand represents a call for human rights and legal institutions to demand the release of the bodies of the martyrs, pointing out that the occupation authorities committed the crime of holding the bodies in retaliation against the families of the martyred prisoners, in violation of all international norms, laws and covenants.

Shoman stressed the importance of launching the national campaign to demand the release of the bodies of the martyrs, stressing at the same time the need to continue efforts to support the two hunger strikers, Khalil Awawdeh and Raed Rayan, who have reached a critical health stage, in addition to the prisoner suffering from cancer, Nasser Abu Hamid, who is languishing in Ramleh detention center, where it is applied to them. Retaliatory policies and continuous violations, most notably deliberate medical negligence.

In turn, Director of the Center for Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights, Helmy Al-Araj, pointed out that the national campaign to demand the handover of the bodies of the martyrs who rose in the occupation prisons is gaining importance in terms of informing the international community about the crimes of the occupation, which not only executed them through the policy of medical negligence, but also detained their bodies to punish their families.

Al-Araj stressed that the file of the sick prisoners is very important so that more of them do not become martyrs, referring to the case of the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who the occupation refuses to release despite the seriousness of his health, in a continuation of the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the prisoners.

The occupation is holding the bodies of 356 martyrs, including 9 martyrs who rose inside the prisons of the occupation, the most recent of whom was Daoud Al-Zubaidi, who died on the fifteenth of this month from being shot by the occupation forces during their storming of Jenin refugee camp.
