The hoteliers are happy.

The rooms in the Würmtal are filling up with guests again.

However, a lot is still free during the Oktoberfest.

Würmtal

– weddings, birthdays, communions.

What's possible is currently being celebrated in the Würmtal.

Business people arrive during the week.

It seems like old times.

The hoteliers are happy: After two years of the pandemic, they finally have something to do again.

"We are satisfied," says Angela Weißenfeld from the Würmtal guest house in Graefelfing.

Her colleague Stefan Osterath from Hotel Asemann in Planegg feels the same way: "Thank God everything is back to how it used to be." Mondays to Thursdays are always very busy.

Also on the weekends due to the many celebrations.

Celebrations in the Würmtal - hoteliers are looking forward to more bookings

However, Valeria Bianco from Hotel La Terrazza in Planegg is enjoying the current hustle and bustle with caution.

You know Corona is not over yet.

In their hotel, guests can cancel free of charge up to one day before their arrival - and this happens again and again due to the corona.

She also says: "Business people book at very short notice." On Tuesdays, her book for the coming week is often almost empty and on Friday it's completely full.

"That's difficult to plan in terms of personnel." Only private guests who travel to family celebrations book well in advance.

Bianco therefore does not want to say that everything in her hotel is the same as it was before the pandemic.

But: "The trend can be seen, it's going up." She says it's good news that trade fairs and other events are possible again.

"The fact that the Wiesn is taking place is a blessing for everyone." Groups who always stay in her house during the Oktoberfest have already got in touch and said: "We'll come back to you." But her hotel isn't fully booked yet.

The Würmtal guest house also still has enough rooms available.

Weißenfeld: "It has only now become known that the Wiesn can take place, it will take a while before people book."

Würmtal hoteliers can breathe a sigh of relief, but the pandemic is still being felt

At the Hotel Asemann, "business people have already made good bookings during the week, private individuals are still missing," says Osterath.

But the hotelier says he noticed a downward trend in this regard even before the pandemic.

"So many hotels have been added in Munich." Many Wiesn guests prefer to stay in hotels near the Oktoberfest.

"We're more of an insider tip." He's still happy about the Wiesn and he's even happier that his staff hasn't had to do short-time work since April.

"It was tough for the employees too: two years of short-time work." But in this way he was able to keep all the employees, "thank God".

He knows that new staff is currently difficult to find.

Valeria Bianco explains: “We have kept our basic staff throughout the pandemic”, but it is difficult for her to find replacements for those who have left.

Two employees who were responsible for breakfast at the hotel would have quit.

Experienced and trained staff is currently rare.

And in order to prepare breakfast, the staff also have to get up early.

"No one wants to do that," she says.

She says with regret: "We sometimes have to offer less in order to be able to handle it." Weißenfeld knows what Bianco is talking about, she too is struggling with a lack of staff.

This is generally a problem.

Many would have reoriented themselves during the pandemic.

She only accepts as much as she can handle at the hotel.

But when it comes to her guests, she notes: “Everyone is very patient and understanding.

That was not the case before."
