The World Health Organization announced today the registration of the fifth death from the Ebola virus in northwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo, after a new outbreak of the deadly disease appeared late last month.
The organization stated in a tweet on Twitter today that the five cases of HIV infection reported since the beginning of the fourteenth outbreak of the disease in late April in the province of Equateur have died as a result of the disease.
According to the organization, so far, 234 people in contact with the infected have been identified and are being monitored, while 1,013 people have been vaccinated against the disease.
