The Ukrainian military is also using unusual means to defend eastern Ukraine.

This includes the use of e-bikes for anti-tank defense.

Kyiv - Even three months after the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, hostilities continue, especially in the Donbass in eastern Ukraine.

The Russian government has recently repeatedly emphasized that the "special operation" in Ukraine would continue to go according to plan.

Nevertheless, President Vladimir Putin does not seem to have expected such fierce resistance from the Ukrainian military.

As a result, the Russian military had to abandon their initial efforts to capture the capital, Kyiv, and regroup troops in eastern Ukraine.

The aim of Putin's troops now appears to be complete control of the Donbass.

It is also crucial that the Ukrainian military was able to defend itself against the Russian invaders despite the well-known lack of heavy weapons.

In defending their homeland, soldiers and military leaders also show an enormous amount of creativity, as not least reports from the past week underline again.

Among other things,

Stern

reported that the Ukrainian soldiers at the front in the Donbass would also use powerful e-bikes to fight Russian tanks.

According to the report, the troops mainly use e-bikes from the Ukrainian manufacturer Delfast.

These reach top speeds of up to 80 km/h and have a range of around 300 kilometers.

Like classic e-bikes, the Delfast bikes can be operated using the pedals, but also like motorcycles using the throttle grip on the handlebars.

Another advantage is the price: the e-bikes cost just around 7,000 euros each - a real bargain compared to conventional armaments.

Thus, the Ukrainian soldiers can quickly and flexibly reach the front lines and carry out targeted attacks against Russian tanks there.

Ukrainian e-bike manufacturer supplies the military in the war against Russia

Delfast CEO Daniel Tonkopiy shared a picture on Facebook last Monday showing two of his company's e-bikes in action.

You can see how the wheels are provided with transport boxes containing the so-called NLAWs (Next Generation Light Anti-Tanl Weapons).

These anti-tank weapons weigh only 12 kilograms when ready to fire and can be used against tanks up to 800 meters away.

The combination of e-bike and NLAW allows Ukrainian troops to get close to Russian tanks quickly and unnoticed, fire a missile – which in the best case scenario destroys the tank – and then move away from the front just as quickly.

Delfast has been supplying Ukrainian troops with e-bikes since the beginning of the war, CEO Tonkopiy explains in his Facebook post.

In consultation with the military, however, the cooperation has not yet been communicated to the outside world and would only be done with the permission of the military leadership.

In the meantime, positive feedback has also been received from the soldiers, according to Tonkopiy.

"The e-bike is great and can really work in mobile task forces," the company boss quoted a Ukrainian soldier as saying.

In addition to Delfast bikes, other e-bike manufacturers also supply the Ukrainian troops.

Bicycles from the Ukrainian manufacturer Eleek are also in use.

According to the manufacturer, these even reach top speeds of up to 90 km/h and also allow Ukrainian soldiers to move almost silently in the vicinity of the front.

The Russian major offensive in eastern Ukraine is currently ongoing and continues to cause heavy casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj recently blamed the West for the high number of victims.

However, the troops of the Ukrainian military will probably continue to do everything possible to defend their territories from the Russian invaders - including with the help of Ukrainian-made e-bikes.
