"Arrogant and pathetic": Rock im Park reaps shitstorm because of serious innovation

The Rock im Park Festival is criticized for a change.

At the Rock im Park festival this year, it is no longer possible to pay with cash, but only with chip wristbands.

This caused criticism on the internet.

Nuremberg – Rock im Park may take place again in 2022.

After a two-year break, rock fans can once again party wildly in Nuremberg for three days at the beginning of June.

The line-up and the timetable are set, the tickets are almost sold out.

Almost a week and a half before the start of the festival, the organizers announced a serious change.

There should be bracelets with which contactless payment is made possible by a chip.

Cash payments are therefore no longer possible on the entire site (apart from the festival Lidl).

The festival is reaping a shit storm online.

The bracelets can either be loaded with money in advance or on site.

But then you have to reckon with a "local top-up fee" of 2 euros.

The reason for the new payment option: "Faster, safer, better." The fact that this change was announced so shortly before the festival annoys some fans enormously.

"It's really outrageous to roll something out at such short notice" or "Slowly it's getting really cheeky.

Many criticized the fact that the “cashless chips” can only be topped up with a credit card.

The organizers then announced that the PayPal payment function would also be added.

However, the mood on the net cannot be calmed down: "Everyone is pissed off, you did well," complains one user.

He calls the innovation a "bottomless cheek".

Another person described the introduction of the bracelets as "arrogant and pathetic".

That's why some people don't want to visit the festival anymore.

Charging doesn't work properly.

"We will evaporate and starve." The organizers try to calm things down by replying: "We will not let anyone starve - there will also be charging facilities on site.

"Why doesn't everything just stay the way it was?" complains another.

"What happened to the festival?

Warsteiner instead of Becks, then this crap with the payment - and then with a fee?" The disappointment among the festival visitors seems to be great.

Occasionally positive feedback can also be read under the Facebook post.

Some people are happy about contactless payment and cannot understand the shitstorm.
